The fortunate few with excellent credit or foreign funds used their advantage ruthlessly, even accelerating the inflation where they could. Unemployment and strikes were rampant and Communists threatened to seize key cities and provinces. The aristocrats and gentry thought revolution imminent. All just as one lone man had prophesied~the leader of a new party, the author of a new hope. The ranks of Hitler's tiny, impoverished party swelled amidst the turmoil. Henry Ford wanted to spread 'his own antiSemitic philosophy. His book The International Jew, published in 1920, became a best~seller in Germany and bore an uncanny similarity to Mein Kampf, which was published five years later.
