"Es gibt fast einen totalen Mangel an Literatur über chinesische Schnupftabakflaschen. Dies ist, soweit bekannt, das einzige Buch zum Thema, und es gab nur wenige Zeitschriftenartikel", schrieb Herr Hitt in der Einführung der Erstausgabe. Dieses Buch wurde zum Sammlerstück. Bisher war es jedoch praktisch unmöglich, es in einer seiner Ausgaben zu erhalten, denn es war ein handgefertigtes Buch, das mit lithografischen Methoden hergestellt wurde und wenig Hoffnung hatte, jemals nachgedruckt zu werden. Die vorliegende Ausgabe behebt diesen Mangel, indem sie Faksimile-Kopien der erweiterten zweiten Ausgabe (1945) und der Ergänzung in fotografischer Reduktion zusammenbringt und so einem viel breiteren Publikum zur Verfügung stellt. Dieses Buch wurde entwickelt, um die original handgedruckten, lithografischen Arbeiten in Buchform nachzubilden. Dieses Buch mit gekippten Tellern und handgezeichneten Illustrationen ist ein Sammlertraum, sowohl Schnupftabak als auch Bücher gleichermaßen.

The text is clean throughout - just usual age-tanning to text block edges and a previous owner inscription on front endpaper. The binding remains tight and black silk boards display just minor wear to extremities. The dust wrapper has a few closed tears to edges/lower front tip but overall certainly remains presentable.
