To the delight of anyone interested in this very personal and inexpensive way to decorate, Fraser's attractive book gets right to the basics. The opening chapter, "Materials and Techniques," marks its practical approach to this increasingly popular art. There is extensive detail on equipment and methods of working. Each chapter presents one area to be worked on, including furniture, walls, floors, small objects, andfloor cloths. Each area is supplemented by the project of a leading stencil artist. Throughout, the emphasis is on specific instructions to achieve particular effects. Abundant color photographs, black-and-white line drawings, and stencil patterns support the text.
