This text is designed to introduce students to the basics of structural equation modelling (SEM) through a conceptual, non-mathematical approach. The few mathematical formulae included are used in a conceptual or illustrative nature, rather than a computational one. It focuses particularly on the basic concepts. Although the methods for conducting SEM analyses are independent of any software programme, the book features examples illustrated using the two most widely circulated programmes - LISREL and EQS. For that reason, it can also be used as an introductory guide to learning how to set up input files to fit the most commonly used types of structural equation models with these programmes. Intended as an introduction for graduate students or researchers in psychology, education, business and other applied social and health sciences taking a course in strucutural education modelling, the only prerequisite is a basic statistics course including regression analysis. The text frequently parallels aspects of SEM with regression, so this prior knowledge is important.
