John Renard, who has a Ph.D. in Islamic studies from Harvard University, is professor of theological studies at St. Louis University. He is the author of eleven other books, including four in Paulist Press's 101 Questions and Answers series, Understanding the Islamic Experience and is editor of Ibn 'Abbad of Ronda in the Classics of Western Spirituality series.
