A retrospective of the American news wire picture services examines their rise and the historical and cultural significance of the images they created, drawing on the United Press International archives to demonstrate how such images captured and molded American identity during such events as the Hindenburg disaster, the Scopes trial, and Charles Lindbergh's trans-Atlantic flight. 15,000 first printing.
