Von der hinteren Coverseite

It is a calm September evening in the Kentucky hill town of Blakesburg. Suddenly the sky above is filled with light--great sheets and arcs cascading across the heavens, brighter than the moon. Thus does Jesse Stuart set the stage for this rollicking novel, first published in 1946. As the novel unfolds, it reveals a full, rich picture of small town life.
