Today, however, these states, whilst still individual, are more closely interconnected than ever before. Seyom Brown is the Lawrence A. Wien Professor of International Cooperation at Brandeis University. He is the author of New Forces, Old Forces and the Future of World Politics; The Causes and Prevention of War; and many other books and articles in international relations and foreign policy.
