Social security and its articulation as a human right have received increased attention in recent years and it is widely acknowledged that women are disproportionately affected by poverty in all parts of the world. This book identifies the need to develop the right to social security to ensure that it is responsive to gender discrimination and disadvantage. Beth Goldblatt is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Technology Sydney. She is a Visiting Fellow of the Australian Human Rights Centre in the Faculty of Law at the University of New South Wales and an Honorary Senior Fellow of the Faculty of Law at the University of the Witwatersrand.
