Inhaltsangabe

Unquestionably the most dynamic region of the globe, the Pacific Rim is changing the cultural map of the world. Growing out of economic change and the rapid growth of cities is a new generation of architects who are merging local needs and vernacular traditions with styles that could only be called international. This creative fusion has resulted in some of the most exciting architectural work in decades.

The first survey of the region's contemporary architecture showcases 33 of the most cutting-edge architecture and design studios-each profiled in depth, with texts, photographs, line drawings, sketches and extended captions. Thematic coverage presents the work of such design groups as Rob Wellington Quigley in San Diego, TEN Arquitectos in Mexico City, and Toyo Ito in Tokyo, demonstrating just how cross-cultural Pacific Rim architecture is. An extensive reference section offers projects lists and architects' biographies.

A sourcebook, an inspiration, and a record of some of the most dynamic creative minds in the built world, Pacific Edge is essential for every architecture bookshelf.
