Biografía del autor:
Herman Melville's early novels were popular and successful, but his reputation declined rapidly. His work was rediscovered in the 1920s, however, and he is now considered to be one of the most important of American authors. He worked as a surveyor, a school teacher, and a whaler before settling in Massachusetts to concentrate on his writing. Later, after moving to New York City, he worked as a customs inspector while continuing to write and publishing mostly poetry.
