Hardcover. Zustand: Very good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very good. vii, [3], 553, [13] pages. Signed on half-title page by Colson. Inscribed on title page by Vaughn. DJ has slight wear and soiling. Charles Wendell "Chuck" Colson (October 16, 1931 - April 21, 2012) was an Evangelical Christian leader who founded Prison Fellowship, and BreakPoint. He served as Special Counsel to President Richard Nixon from 1969 to 1973. Colson gained notoriety at the height of the Watergate scandal, for being named as one of the Watergate Seven, and pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice for attempting to defame Pentagon Papers defendant Daniel Ellsberg. In 1974, he served seven months in the federal Prison in Alabama as the first member of the Nixon administration to be incarcerated for Watergate-related charges. His mid-life conversion to Christianity sparked a radical life change that led to the founding of his non-profit ministry Prison Fellowship to a focus on Christian worldview teaching and training around the world. Colson was also a public speaker and the author of more than 30 books. He was the founder and chairman of The Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview and includes Colson's daily radio commentary, BreakPoint, heard on more than 1,400 outlets across the United States (and continues to be broadcast with an alternating panel from the Colson Center). Colson received 15 honorary doctorates, and in 1993 was awarded the Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion, the world's largest annual award in the field of religion, given to a person who "has made an exceptional contribution to affirming life's spiritual dimension". Ellen Vaughn is a New York Times bestselling author and inspirational speaker. Her collaborative books include Choosing to SEE--which spent six weeks on the New York Times bestseller list--as well as Shattered, Lost Boy, The God Who Hung on the Cross, and It's All About Him. The last debuted at #1 on the New York Times nonfiction list. Vaughn's newest book, co-written with Marty Makary, is Mama Maggie: The Untold Story of One Woman's Mission to the Forgotten Children of Cairo's Garbage Slums. This is the authorized biography of the "Mother Teresa of Egypt," Nobel Peace Prize-nominated Egyptian leader Maggie Gobran, released by Thomas Nelson in March 2015. Vaughn has authored or co-authored 20 books, including Come, Sit, Stay, Time Peace and Radical Gratitude. Her award-winning novels are The Strand and Gideon's Torch, which she coauthored with her friend and mentor, the late Chuck Colson. She collaborated with Colson on eight other nonfiction books. Former vice president of executive communications for Prison Fellowship, Vaughn serves as a Senior Fellow for the 21st Century Wilberforce Initiative. She speaks frequently at retreats, conferences, and writers' seminars. She holds a Master of Arts from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Richmond. Vaughn and her husband, Lee, a cancer survivor, live in the Washington, D.C. area. They are enjoying being empty nesters, though they have traded out their three kids for two dogs who seem to be equally needy. Gideon's Touch is a novel in which a newly elected president of the united States must deal with a crisis that challenges his administration's agenda and changes the course of the nation. This is a political thriller by Charles Colson and Ellen Vaughn. Its main themes include abortion, anti-abortion violence, and the inside of both movements. It also portrays an alternate 1994 election in which a pro-choice Republican is elected. Special Limited Edition [stated on DJ]. First printing [stated]. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 74019
