This compilation of medical anecdotes covers a spectrum of the historical, the unusual, the unexpected, the humourous and the mysterious. Medical anecdotes have been extracted from many sources including newspaper cuttings, epitaths, quotations, medical journals, advertisements, comic monologues and case histories. The subject matter ranges from evolution through animals, politicians, punk rockers and royalty to mummification and death, from medical schools to surgeons, from quacks and witch doctors to saints and from lead poisoning to radioactivity.
