Inhaltsangabe

The power of knowledge, the resonance of tradition critiques the concept of 'tradition' within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander context. The authors emphasise the creativity and complex knowledge construction in contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander social life. They discuss land and sea ownership, native title processes, and cultural representations. The work highlights tensions between traditional frameworks in legislation and the realities of modern intercultural lives, advocating for a deeper understanding of social and cultural innovation. This collection also reflects insights from key scholars and previous AIATSIS conferences, offering a multi-disciplinary critique of tradition.
