Archibald MacLeish was an American poet and writer. He lived in Paris during the 1920s; he worked as an editor for Fortune during the Great Depression; he was in Washington as Librarian of Congress during World War II; and he was involved in the formation of UNESCO. His honors include Pulitzer prizes, the Bollingen Prize, and the National Medal for Literature.
