The top-down approach using subprograms (CALL and SUB) is introduced early in this text. Emphasis is placed on proper design using the sequence, selection (If-Then-Else and Case), and repetition (Do-While and Do-Until) logic structures. The program development cycle is stressed and used throughout the book. It reinforces good design habits and gives special attention to testing the design before implementing the logic in a program.
