Unsettled and uncertain situations still persist in the former Soviet states of Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, posing a serious threat to the stability of civil society, democratic institutions, and the pursuit of human rights. Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Ceslav Ciobanu is an associate professor of economics at Virginia State University. From 1998 to March 2002, he acted as Moldova's ambassador to the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
