Drawing from various stylistic inspiration and sources, Maurice Cullen, J.W. Morrice, William Brymner and Edmund Morris painted landscape subjects in Canada and abroad. While they were not a formal group, their individual responses to the aesthetic challenges contributed to the development of painting in Canada.
