As a young boy, Big Bear was witness to the increasing conflict between Cree and Blackfoot Indians. The Cree were migrants - maybe even immigrants. The Blackfoot resented their presence especially in competition for food. By 1866 this conflict, which also took in `whites' had developed into crisis propotions and by 1885 it spawned the Battle of Duck Lake. This, then was the story of the great Cree chief Big Bear. Learn also about: Thomas Trueman Quinn, Ayimasees, Cree Thirst Dance, Jackfish Lake, Little Runner, Constable David Cowan, and Red Deer Forks. Cond : Paper wrapper is yellowey-orange in colour.
