In recent years a growing number of scholars have used the family as a prism through which to view historical change. The ways in which people cope with their world have always been reflected in familial decisions. Leslie Page Moch is Professor of History at Michigan State University. She is the author of books including The Pariahs of Yesterday: Breton Migrants in Paris and Moving Europeans: Migration in Western Europe since 1650.
