Each author brings a unique theoretical perspective to conceptualizing how discourse is regulated and how it regulates when human activity is organized for such purposes as work or belonging to a profession. Together, the contributors to this collection offer a provocatively complex picture of what regulation means and the means of regulation.
Biografía del autor:
Mark Zachry is Associate Professor of technical communication at the University of Washington and is editor of Technical Communication Quarterly. Zachry's research focuses on the rhetorical practices of organizations, particularly as those practices shape and are shaped by technological change, regulation, and organizational power. His research has been published in various journals and in edited collections. He is currently researching the modeling of the communicative and mediational aspects of knowledge work in organizations.Charlotte Thralls is Professor in the Department of English at Western Michigan University. She is the author of numerous articles and coeditor of Professional Communication: The Social Perspective (Sage, 1993). Her research has been recognized by awards from the National Council of Teachers of English and the Association for Business Communication. Thralls was founding coeditor of the Journal of Business and Technical Communication and was coeditor of Technical Communication Quarterly.
