Inhaltsangabe

Your child is capable! So why are school, homework, and grades becoming a daily struggle?

Poor grades are often treated as a motivation or behavior problem. But a child who appears lazy, careless, oppositional, or distracted may actually be struggling with missing study skills, weak organization, anxiety, low self-esteem, sleep deprivation, social pressure, attention difficulties, or an unidentified learning disorder.

Why GOOD KIDS Get Bad Grades—a Gold Mom’s Choice Award winner and recipient of the Kirkus Reviews “Our Verdict GET IT!” designation—helps parents look beyond the report card, identify the root causes of academic difficulty, and respond without constant lecturing, punishment, or family conflict.

Using relatable case studies and the STRONG framework with the pillars of Self-esteem, Trust, Responsibility, Options, Needs, and Goals—this updated guide will help you:

• Understand why capable children underperform or suddenly lose motivation
• Reduce homework battles and strengthen parent-child communication
• Build practical study, organization, planning, and time-management skills
• Recognize possible signs of dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, language-processing difficulties, and ADD/ADHD
• Support children facing anxiety, fear of failure, bullying, digital distraction, and learning disruption
• Work more effectively with teachers and other professionals while protecting your child’s confidence

Written by Linda Silbert, Ph.D., and Alvin J. Silbert, Ed.D., who have spent more than forty years helping students and families, this compassionate and practical resource is designed for parents and caregivers of elementary, middle-school, and high-school students. It is also valuable for teachers, counselors, tutors, and clinicians.

Don’t let bad grades define their worth! Empower your child to become a stronger, more confident, and more independent learner.
