As in Old Testament Books Made Simple for each book, I have followed an outline based on the boy Samuels reply to God’s voice: Speak, for your servant hears (1 Sam 3:10). The letters of SPEAK will be an acronym to outline introductory material: S= situation; P= plan, i.e., how the book is structured; E= eternal purpose; A = acclaim for Jesus; K= keys. Under the heading HEAR outstanding chapters and verses in each book are suggested.

James E. Smith received his undergraduate and seminary training at Cincinnati Bible Seminary. He was awarded the Ph.D. degree by Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. “Doc” Smith has served congregations in Ohio and Kentucky. For the thirteen years he was professor of Old Testament Cincinnati Bible Seminary. He currently serves with distinction on the faculty of Florida Christian College.
