Gr 10 UpBiomedical Ethics is divided into five chapters of four to six articles each. They cover genetic engineering, organ transplants, reproductive technology, use of animals in scientific research, and ethical standards in the health care profession. Articles containing opposing viewpoints are presented back to back. Many include a short introduction with questions to think about while reading. Footnotes on the title pages make the source of the material obtainable at a glance. Each chapter is followed by a critical thinking activity and a recent periodical bibliography. A book bibliography is also extensive. The editors include an impressive list of concerned groups with addresses, phone numbers, and a brief description of the organization's history. Biomedical Ethics could simply be placed in the library as a reference source, but librarians should also make a point of recommending it to teachers as excellent for classroom use.
