WATFOR-77 is the newest member of the WATFOR family of debugging FORTRAN compilers. It supports the full ANSI FORTRAN 77 language. Like its predecessors, WATFOR and WATFIV, the compiler reduces the time spent to develop FORTRAN programs. A program is compiled directly into the computer's memory and then executed. WATFOR-77 emphasizes fast compilation and good diagnostics. By eliminating both the need to produce object files and the often lengthy linking process, WATFOR-77 can be used to develop and debug programs in a shorter amount of time than is possible with other compilers. With WATFOR-77, programmers can be extremely productive in the development and maintenance cycle.
