The lesson text is really large; something that definitely would catch the eye of a little person, and wouldn't seem so daunting. There really isn't much to complicate this program. It's direct and can be used in as little as 10 minutes a day. Alpha-Phonics. Four Thumbs Up! [From my twins recently turned 3] I am in AWE! Absolute awe! The oldest twin is reading 2 and 3 word sentences. I love the simplicity of this program that now contains a CD ROM. Has no fancy bells & whistles that can distract a child learning to read (pictures distracted my son) The CD is a nice because the child can hear the proper pronunciation of the sound being introduced. I didn't have access to it when my children were learning to read. It would have saved tears and frustration. It's a clear, simple, inexpensive systematic phonics program for beginners. Contains a book with Students' Lessons & Teacher's Manual, and CD ROM with sound. I had the opportunity to use a curriculum recommended by Cathy Duffy [in 100 Top Picks for Homeschool Curriculum] called Alpha-Phonics. It's not flashy or trendy, but WORKS. It is basic, easy to use and is straightforward. Cade [son] took off with reading immediately. The best part is price.
