Laid is a TLS from the authors wife explaining how the book came to be written. Account of the years spent in Malawi [then Nyasaland] by a young doctor in the 1930's. After his return to England he was sent back to Africa in 1947, this time to the Gambia to head a team looking at the possibility of farm mechanisation.
