A charismatic and flamboyant character, Eric Boon was one of the country's finest lightweights and one of the hardest punchers to have graced the rings of these shores. In 1938, at 18 he became the youngest boxer to win a British professional title and the following year won a coveted Lonsdale belt outright. World war II was the only thing that prevented him challenging for world honours. Outside the ring he appeared in a series of successful Vandeville productions and in a number of films. A serious motorbike accident lead to him being discharged from the RAF but ignoring medical advice he continued to fight. Suffering blackouts, memory loss & concentration he rarely held down a job for any length of time but overcoming many set backs he did massive charity work. His story is not just about success. A renowned playboy who loved the champagne lifestyle, he had minor brushes with the law and two marriages that ended in divorce. He remarried his first wife and lived happily with her for the last 15 years of his life. Despite often being broke, he travelled the country for a number of years raising money for his chosen charity. CAN BE SIGNED BY AUTHOR IF REQUESTED.
