Thom Rutledge is a psychotherapist in Nashville, Tennessee. The author of several books, including The Self-Forgiveness Handbook and Earning Your Own Respect, he is also a popular lecturer and workshop facilitator who draws on his experience as a professional magician to entertain, as well as to inform his audiences. Thom's syndicated column has appeared in self-help/recovery newspapers from coast to coast, and his second book, If I Were They, was featured on NBC's Today Show.
A powerful, practical guide for readers serious about learning self-compassion. Praise for Thom Rutledge and Simple Truth:
"Thom is a magician. He transforms confusion into clarity." -Robert Stepbach, Ed.D
"No more rehashing how we came to need self-help books! With Simple Truth the healing begins on page one." - Philip Loydpierson
"Thom's words are straight to the point --- and go straight to my heart, where they can do the most good." -Janet LaLande
"I have never considered my approach to the work of psychotherapy, and now my approach to writing this book, particularly clinical. The process called psychotherapy is a collaboration, an experience of teaching and learning shared by two or more individuals in an atmosphere of unconditional emotional safety. At this point in my life and in my career, I am realizing that I have earned veteran status on both sides of this collaboration (as therapist and as client). It is from this experience of collaboration that I offer this book called Simple Truth, so named because I believe that all truth is simple. It seems inherent to our human condition that we make the work of getting to simplicity such a complex task." - from the Introduction
