Mr. Harold Paisley was born in 1924 in Lurgan, N. Ireland. His parents were Bible believing Christians. A veteran of World War II, he served in the R.A.F. In March 1944 he experienced conversion, and was soon baptized as a believer and identified with Christians gathered to the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ in Wellington St. Assembly, Ballymena, N. Ireland. In May 1945 he went forth into full time service for Christ, commended to the Grace of God to this great work of preaching the Gospel. His efforts to reach the lost proved fruitful and many were saved. Twenty years of constant Gospel preaching in the U.K. was followed by the last 30 years of preaching and teaching in Canada and U.S.A. During his 50 years over 70 tent series have been conducted, where large numbers heard the Gospel and souls were saved. Our brother resides in Toronto, and has Eglington Ave. gospel Hall as his home assembly. All his family are believers.
He has visited and ministered the Word in many countries, including Australia, New Zealand, S. Africa and the Middle East. Recently the Assembly in Cambridge Ave. Ballymena conducted a praise service to the Lord for his fifty years of faithful service.
The comparisons and the contrasts between Boaz and Christ are vividly described by Harold Paisley. All of this and very much more is the substance of this beautiful commentary. It will stimulate the mind of the reader, but it will also reach the heart. Mr. Paisley traces the great theme of redemption and touches the heart. He writes with insight and tenderness. He brilliantly expounds and lifts the reader's spirit in this remarkable work.
The first and last verses of the Book of Ruth show its link with the history in Judges and 1 Samuel, forming an appendix to the one, and an introduction to the other. The happenings in Ruth took place in the days when judges judged. The history of those days in the Book of Judges present a long succession of dark scenes of departure from God... In such conditions of confusion, ungodliness, immorality and apostasy, we turn with delight to consider alongside such dark events, the bright gleams of God's gracious mercy disclosed in the Book of Ruth.
