Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Van V. Heffner serves as the president and chief executive officer of the Nevada Hotel & Motel Association and the Nevada Restaurant Association. He was selected to serve the 300 member NH&MA, which represents 60,000 hotel rooms in 1979 and the NRA, with 600 member restaurants in 1982.

Heffner is an author of including hospitality industry books: Serving Alcohol with Care series, Impression Management and Retail Merchandising. In addition he has written timely position papers encompassing the "Master Plan for Nevada Tourism."

In November 1995, his first inspirational book, Love Dances was published, with the first printing being sold out in the United States and internationally. The second printing will be released in 1999. His next inspirational book, Harmony, was just released and will soon be available at major bookstores, gift shops and from Internet sites. Inspirational books in progress are Just Love 'em, Honor, Cherish, Brothers and Sisters and A Symphony of Life.

Heffner received the Clark County Health District's Public Health Hero Award in 1999 and the prestigious Community Achievement Tourism Award from the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce in September 1998. He was presented the coveted 1997 Peacemaker of the Year from the Mediators of Southern Nevada. During 1996 Heffner was honored as recipient of the distinguished Clark County Humanitarian Award, Las Vegas, Nevada and as a national nominee for the prestigious Pearson National Literary Award, Washington, DC

In 1983 Heffner was extended an appointment as a nominee for the Under Secretary of Commerce, United States Travel and Tourism Administration and in 1991 as a nominee for the Secretary General of the International Hotel Association in Paris, France. He has served as the president of the International Society of Hotel Association Executives and state president of the American Society of Association Executives. He is active with philanthropic, community and fine art groups.

Heffner received his graduate degree in Educational Psychology and Management from the University of Utah after completing his undergraduate studies at Boise State University. He has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, Community College of Southern Nevada, University of Utah and Weber State College.

As a sports enthusiast Heffner enjoys tennis, skiing and roller blading. His other hobbies include gourmet cooking, entertaining, international cultures, charcoal drawings, painting, music, aviculture and gardening.

He and his wife Joan reside in Las Vegas and have three daughters.
