The book provides a wealth of information about diagnostic testing, common spinal disorders, pain management, physical and alternative therapies, and surgery.

Throughout the book medical terms are not only defined but also, phonetically spelled. The last chapter is a Glossary of Terms compiled for quick and easy reference. In addition, the book utilizes over twenty-five visual illustrations designed to benefit the average person.

Save Your Aching Back, A Patient's Guide is not meant to replace the relationship between a patient and his or her doctor. On the contrary, general information about the design of the spine and its mechanics can help a person to understand why his or her back aches.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Dr. Stewart G. Eidelson is a 1972 graduate of Drew University in Madison, New Jersey with a degree in Zoology. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1976, and served his internship at Metropolitan Hospital in New York. His orthopaedic surgery residences were completed at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania, and the Alfred I. duPont Institute in Wilmington, Delaware.

He received advanced Fellowship Training in Spinal Surgery at the Cleveland Spine Center under the direction of Dr. Arthur Steffee, and was on the teaching faculty of the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in Lexington, Kentucky for seven years.

Dr. Eidelson is a member of the North American Spine Society, the Palm Beach County Medical Society, the Florida Orthopaedic Society, and the Palm Beach County Orthopaedic Society. Dr. Eidelson is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

With his keen interest in outcome studies relating to spinal surgical procedures in the elderly, Dr. Eidelson was instrumental in founding the Palm Beach Orthopaedic and Spinal Research Foundation located in Boca Raton, Florida. In conjunction with the Foundation's research, many of Dr. Eidelson's papers have been accepted and presented worldwide.

From the Introduction. The pathway to finding relief from a back problem may present many twists and turns. There are chiropractors, physical therapists, primary care doctors, and even internists treating back pain. Then there are neurosurgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, and rheumatologists. Finding the right physician to treat a back disorder is simply not the same as treating chest pain.
