This oversized hardcover with dust jacket is a First Edition, September, 1999, Volume I of a two-volume set commemorating all those personnel who served with the 380th Bombardment Group (Heavy), Fifth Bomber Command, 5th Air Force, Far East Air Force, USAAF, during World War II. Compiled by Theodore J. Williams and Barbara J. Gotham and self-published by Williams. ISBN 0-9672447-0-6. This oversized hardcover is itself like-new, apparently unread, unopened, and unmarked. It measures about 8 ¼”X 11” X 1 ½” and individual sections are paginated. It weighs about 4 ¼ pounds. Bound into the volume at the front is a signed and dated print by Francis Johnston (no. 29 of 500 issued) titled Flying Circus showing the five insignia of the Bomb Group based on five Disney characters. (See the partial scan of the print, which isn’t scanned completely for fear of breaking the spine there.) Also, included is the original form letter sent to a Fellow 380th Bomb Group Association Member (Ted Williams, undoubtedly not THE Ted Willliams) dated August 1999 describing the two volumes that are being sent under cover of this letter, signed by both compilers Gotham and Williams. The dust jacket has slight rubbing at the spine ends and outer corners, also down the folds of the spine, also a ½” closed tear at the bottom front corner. The roster that comprises this book “has been prepared under the auspices of the 380th Bomb Group Association, Inc., the organization of wartime veterans of service in the 380th Bomb Group and their families and associates.
