Inhaltsangabe

This 88 page, full color, hard cover book includes information on the most sought after spa therapies, like Aromatherapy, Swedish massage, Shiatsu, Reflexology, Meditation, Water Therapies and Yoga and includes some much needed information about stress and how it effects the body along with breathing techniques, tips for detoxifying and how to mix your own oils and give your partner a massage he or she will never forget. While it is packed with information that helps the spa-goer understand the physical and mental value of indulging in spa therapies, the underlying message of the book is to use the spa experience as a vehicle for self-discovery. Steiner, the book's author and publisher operates the spas on board cruise ships and also on land, and has been involved in the industry since the 1930's. Sarah Walker, the Editor of 'time to spa' says that this experience has given Steiner a great deal of insight into the needs of the public. "As life becomes more technical, more automated, more scheduled and less spontaneous we all are in desperate need of ways to re-connect." According to Steiner, the spa experience, whether that be in the comfort of your own home in your bath tub, or in one of the many spas that are developing throughout the world, has the power to put the individual back in 'emotional' touch. Filled with beautiful photography, the book makes a wonderful gift for someone else or yourself.

Aus dem Klappentext

time This man-made phenomenon makes us squeeze beautiful moments into square boxes. We try to beat the clock and pack our twelve-hour days with purpose and meaning. We try to stop. We try to do nothing. But old cultural myths creep into our psyche, like a whispering mantra, "Idle hands are the devil's workshop." Yet we continue going through life, measuring our progress by a round object that hands upon a wall and ticks. Time terrifies us. Henri Bergson, a French philospher born upon the cusp of the 19th and 20th centures, re-inventing time. He proposed that real time was the "inner" time of experience. He called it, "La Duree." Immeasurable and purely qualitative, it never begins and never ends. It is the constant event of becoming. It is the immortal moment. Time flows, it does not tick and when experienced as such it is the vehicle for self discovery. Take time. Face time. Enjoy your time.
