In the 1960's John Fahey served as an American Liaison Officer to the Soviet Army in East Germany. In the 1970's and 1980's he led many Old Dominion University study tours to the Soviet Union, studied in a Moscow State Univeristy program, and conducted a site visit to Moscow for an American contractor. A Russian linguist, Professor Fahey enjoyed a special relationship with the Russian people.
