About 50 miles west of Leduc Alberta, some pioneers decided in 1911 to carve out homesteads for themselves. The community became known as Keystone, Alberta. Farm accidents , separation and winter took their usual percentages. The difference : Most of these early homesteaders were blacks who had left Oklahoma for a less harried style of life.
