Margaret Collier Graham was South Pasadena's pioneer storyteller and essayist, admired by John Muir and Charles Lummis, a familiar voice in Lummis's magazine Land of Sunshine, and with her husband Donald Graham, a founder of Southland towns.

Margaret Collier Graham arrived in Southern California from Iowa in 1877, and with her husband Donald Graham she was one of the founders of the town of South Pasadena. She was an advocate for women's rights, including the vote, and wrote witty stories revealing the layers of society, especially the humblest settlers, in early Southern California days.
