Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
Merrill Gilfillan was born in Mount Gilead, Ohio, and studied literature at the Universities of Michigan and Iowa. His first book of poems appeared in 1970. Recent publications include two books of poetry, The Seasons (2002) and Small Weathers (2004), as well as a collection of al fresco essays, Rivers and Birds (2003). He currently lives in Colorado.

Uncommon signed, and uncommon book in general, it seems. From the library of novelist-poet Jim Harrison in Livingston, MT. On the front free endpaper is a post-it that reads in Gilfillan's hand, "I know you like Elaine." An inside joke? Harrison himself commented about Gilfillan, "If anyone writes better prose in American I am unaware of it." Agreed.
