After a four-year stint in the Marine Corps, Scott Pritchard should have left government service. The dreams were getting worse. But he talked himself into applying for top-secret security assignments. Finally off the active duty rosters, his head was crowded, jam-packed tighter than sardines in a can, and he was sure the monsters were coming for him. Some people called him an insane son of a bitch; he knew he was just unfocused. And now the military wanted him for a special assignment. R&D had blown open the inner gates of hell, and it was up to Scott to close them.
He could've told them the monsters were coming for him.

Doug Hewitt is an internationally published writer of fiction, with over 50 stories in print. He’s been published in anthologies such as The Dead Inn, Nasty Snips, 100 Wicked Little Witch Stories, and The Asylum 3: The Quiet Ward. He’s had appearances in HorrorFind, Futures, Underworlds, and The Edge.
After high school, Doug attended Kalamazoo College in Michigan before heading off for 4 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he learned about "black box" military projects. A particularly sinister project is explored in Doug’s first novel, SPEAR, published in 2002. Doug maintains, though, that he has no specific knowledge of any project like the one in "Slipstream."
Along the way to writing SPEAR, Doug graduated from UNC Greensboro with a B.S. degree in mathematics. Later he returned for a Master of Arts degree in Liberal Studies.
