Life is like an erotic dance, and Glitter Ball looks at it that way. Set against Disco-era New Orleans, Glitter Ball tells about a time when The Big Easy was a stopping-off point for young people looking for a new life of excitement, adventure, and in most cases love they hadn't found in the places they left. Glitter Ball chronicles the lives of four girls who come to Promises, a disco bar in the middle of the old city to dance, find excitement and sex, and discover who they really are, and hope against hope that they ll meet Mr. Right.
Lisa, sweet, pretty, and desperate to take charge of her own life, Claire, the ambitious career woman who needs a man to be tougher than she is, Wendy, artist, bartender, and seeker, with a hot body that attracts all the wrong people, and Jess, the working-class girl, fighting her way out of poverty...any way she can.
But instead of everlasting love, Wendy meets Steve, a carpenter turned bouncer, who wants her only on his terms, Clair meets Jackson, who is more interested in dice and cards than he is in her, Lisa meets Richard who won't give up his drugs for her, and Jess meets Neil, the rich, hung-up college kid who just wants a pretty woman on his arm and is willing to pay for it.
Glitter Ball is an ultra-sexy romp, an exploration, and a razor-sharp character analysis all rolled into one.
