Timeless Tropical is a compilation of works by Timur Designs, an architecture practice in Singapore renowned for interweaving aspects of tropical living into their exquisite residential work. Timur Designs is led by Chan Wai Kin, a University of Melbourne graduate, and Yong Ai Loon, who was schooled in the National University of Singapore. Both are united in their commitment to the tenets of form-follows-climate and that good architecture is to be lived in and not merely to be seen.

This monograph shows some of their recent works where the boundaries of timeless tropical architecture are explored through various interpretations of spaces and the use of different materials.

Yong Ai Loon established Timur Designs in 1991. In 1995, Chai Wai Kin joined the firm as a partner in an effort to provide a broader scope of work and to continue to improve the level of professional service to their clients. Tim Nolan is a British photographer who has been based in Singapore since 1993. His work includes architectural and interior photography for international architects and designers. His photographs have been featured in magazines and books published in Singapore and around the world. He also produces photographic and digital artworks for corporate clients.

Timur Designs is an architecture consultancy firm established in 1991 by Yong Ai Loon with the aim of providing personal and direct services to the clients. Since the formation of Timur Designs, a wide spectrum of projects have been completed, both in Singapore and abroad. In addition to color and black-and-white photographs, this collection also includes essays from several contributors.
