Developing your child’s imagination unfortunately is rarely supported today, not through modern media, or our education system. One way to develop an imagination is to give kids something to chew on, time, and attention. One of the biggest gifts parents can give to their children is a good question – and the opportunity to answer it. The book presents graphical elements which are part of a bigger picture. Each graphical element is accompanied with a question (“What does it look like?”). Please let the child answer it, and all answers are good. I also encourage the parents to applaud each answer. The child should feel encouraged to see something – which is not there – by using its imagination. By turning the page, the picture becomes more and more complete.

Helmut Degen was born in 1964 in Osnabr�ck, Lower Saxony, Germany. Osnabr�ck is famous for the location of the Peace of Westphalia which ended the Thirty Years‘ War (1618-1648) in Europe. The motivation to write books for children goes back to his formal education time where he felt that education systems don’t prepare our young students sufficiently for their life. Helmut earned a master’s degree in Informatics (minors: Economics and Philosophy) and a PhD in Information Science, both from universities in Germany. He lives with his family in New Jersey, USA. Beside work and children’s books, Helmut loves excellent vegetarian food, riding the bicycle, and having a good time with his family.
