Inhaltsangabe

Follow Corey on a journey that begins with problems caused by his color confusion. Corey learns about Color Vision Deficiency (CVD) and keeps a positive attitude. Along the way, his family, teachers and friends help by understanding the special way Corey sees colors. This one-of-a-kind story and fact book begins with Corey's Story. Corey, a fourth-grader, explains how his color deficiency caused problems in kindergarten. A trip to the eye doctor reveals the problem. Corey's color confusion is a physical condition that many people share and it has nothing to do with how smart he is. Once he understands his color vision, Corey sails past color-dependent obstacles with a positive attitude and confident communication. Color Vision Deficiency isn't the end of the world, says Corey. It's just a different view of it! Corey's Questions includes easy answers to common questions: What is CVD? How many people have it? How do I know if I have it? What do people with CVD see? Living with CVD offers practical coping techniques for common situations that stress confidence and communication. A reference chart groups a multitude of color names into manageable families (brown, green, red, etc.) The Science of CVD is a kid-friendly, illustrated science guide to how CVD is inherited, how the brain sees colors, and how rods and cones absorb color inside the eye. A section For Parents and Teachers contains tips for helping children deal with CVD at home and at school. The learning experience is augmented by a glossary, a list of resources and extended website interaction. In addition to helping children understand their color confusion and maintain their self-confidence, parents are provided with a platform for healthy communication about color obstacles and teachers are given tools to help avoid the misinterpretation of color mistakes and maximize the learning experience for students with CVD. Mom's Choice Book Award. Next Generation Indie Book Award. National Indie Excellence Book Award. Endorsed by the nation's leading color vision experts.
