This first volume in the new series, Common Core Teaching for Foundational Reading Skills, presents explicit techniques to support student development of single syllable phonics skills outlined in the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Literacy. Mary Spencer is the President and Executive Director of the American Reading Corps, LLC, an educational publishing company and K-12 literacy organization. Her company provides intensive reading intervention to students of all ages during the summers. Each year, Mary provides two full scholarships to students with dyslexia. Her organization also provides to the community numerous consultations and trainings, pro bono. She has 14 years of experience in K-12 literacy education. Her experience includes literacy coaching in over 25 schools, RtI consulting and educator preparation program development. She has worked for Lindamood-Bell, the Colorado Department of Education and Jones International University. She currently works full-time as a 3rd grade teacher in Denver Public Schools.
