The Oregon Backroads Guide to the Pacific Crest Trail describes a high country road route connecting with the Pacific Crest Trail, starting at the California/Oregon line and ending at the Columbia River and the Washington state line. Containing detailed information, The Guide is in full color and appeals to a broad spectrum of travelers, campers, hikers, boaters, fishermen, and adventure travelers. The photos and unique hand-drawn maps along with some discussions of natural science attractions are appealing to arm chair travelers as well.
The Oregon Backroads Guide is divided into two volumes. The first volume was published 10-01-2014 and describes the route from California to Willamette Pass (Southern Oregon). The second volume spans the state from Willamette Pass to the Columbia River and the Bridge of the Gods (Northern Oregon). Volume Two is in the lay-out phase with a target publish date of 09-01-2015. Both volumes are divided into “Regions” with each region taking about a day to drive. Each Region begins with a route description, road conditions, main roads in order of travel and options, approximate travel times, along with a list of needed maps for the area.

Ed McBee has always had a love for the high country.
Traveling the mountains of the Cascades, Siskiyous, and Sierras, Ed has explored some of the most beautiful and remote landscapes in the west, afoot, afloat, and a-wheeled. After moving to the Seattle area from the plains of Kansas as he turned 15, Ed commenced to poke and prod every corner of the Pacific Northwest from Alaska to California, at one time dreaming of hiking the 2,650 mile length of the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada.
Now residing in southern Oregon, Ed owns a business in the Historic Landmark District of Jacksonville. His sidekick Brio is a cowdog without cows who rides shotgun when they're exploring the backroads of Oregon and corrals squeaky toys in Ed's office.
