Susan Price is an English author for children, and a winner of the prestigious Carnegie Medal. From the time she was a small child herself, she has loved traditional stories, and often weaves elements from them into her fiction - as here, in a tale that has echoes of Hansel and Gretel, but was also influenced by Russian legends.
