This is the tale of Jason Allen, a man who has never really found his place in society. It is a contemporary tale of modern living and the pitfalls that occur from being obsessive, intuitively, a bad inductive thinker in a confusing, changing and ill-understood world: a satirical sadomasochistic portrait, in which the pathetic and the frustrated figure of Jason is haplessly doomed to destruction. A sharp intake of breath is required as all and sundry feel the wrath of a frustrated and chaotic man.
He lives in Railhead an off the map provincial town where nothing really happens, in a country obsessed with itself and the need to make progress. He perceives himself as fighting a battle to maintain his own high cultural identity in a world of ordinariness. A self-proclaimed wit and freethinker, he is a loose cannon with catastrophic opinions about himself and his place in provincial life.
It is an insight into the folly of man and how intransigence can lead you to undesired places. In essence, it is a bittersweet tale of the life of one of many of our citizens whose existence is only made meaningful through self-deception. A tragic comedy about how real life and perceptions can go in opposite directions. A depiction of how everyone lives in his or her own little bubble where social networks revolve around a few prime individuals. Some of these individuals have a strong capability for skewing friendship towards their own benefit. Unless it is beneficial to them, people who drift into their presence are largely superfluous. Everyone is acquainted with at least one of these types of individual and their numbers are on the rise as the population of the planet is predicted to augment every minute by another thick-skinned narcissist.
