These are the fascinating personal letters of Wilfred Sydney James Thornington who became a senior civil servant and Deputy Director of Audit during World War II. The first batch of letters were sent from New York from late 1942 to mid-1943. The second batch were sent from Cairo late 1943 to mid 1945.
