Dr. Sinclair Rimmon grew up in Warsaw, Poland, during the harsh period between the two World Wars, including the Great Depression. As a young child, he withstood deprivation and bouts of starvation, and began working when he was 8 years old. When his parents were unable to care for him in Warsaw, Sinclair and his sister moved to the communal environment of his grandparents’ shtetl in Zhabinka, some 150 miles away. In 1934, in response to Hitler’s rise in Germany and his parents’ Zionism, Sinclair’s family emigrated to Eretz Yisrael, where he later served in the Haganah (the pre-Israel defense forces of the Jewish community) and Israeli Air Force. In 1950, he made his way to the United States with a dream of pursuing academics and becoming a business entrepreneur. His story is one of hope, determination, perseverance and achievement.
