Until he meets Abril, who tells him she is the reason Rinzen is been reborn on Colfax, and that his mission is not enlightenment, but to help her find health insurance. She has a pre-existing condition that denies her coverage, and a true bodhisattva she says would help her no matter what the cost. And although helping her sounds like a noble plan, it is not exactly the lesson he expected
